Auckland Policy Office

The Auckland Policy Office (APO) is a collaborative central government office, located in central Auckland.

About the APO

The aim of the APO is to:

  • provide an Auckland perspective in the development of central government policy
  • identify and develop Auckland-specific policies that will promote Auckland and national economic growth
  • promote the involvement of central government in major regional development projects
  • develop links with key regional stakeholders including Auckland Council and Auckland’s business community
  • be a source of information about Auckland.

There are 21 agencies represented in the APO, including:

The CabGuide reminds Ministers and agencies/departments of requirements to consult with the Minister for Auckland on matters requiring Cabinet approval that will have a significant or disproportionate impact for Auckland.
