Tell us about your experiences with New Zealand’s work health and safety regulatory system.

About the consultation

We want to hear about your experiences with New Zealand’s work health and safety regulatory system – how you think it’s working now, what you think works well, and what you think should change. Your feedback will inform MBIE’s advice to Ministers on improvements we could make to the work health and safety system.

What we are seeking feedback on

The consultation document seeks your views on:

  • how you make decisions about health and safety, the reasons behind these decisions, and their cost
  • whether you think the law strikes the right balance between flexibility and certainty – whether it’s too detailed in some cases, or not detailed or clear enough in others. We are also interested in your thoughts on the information sources you use
  • how your business or organisation engages with workers, how workers participate in health and safety, and the impact this has on health and safety
  • your experiences with health and safety regulators, and the third parties that act on behalf of the regulators or have other roles within the system
  • whether you think the work health and safety regulatory system is meeting its objective.

You are also welcome to share your thoughts on any other aspect of the work health and safety regulatory system.
