Operational Review into Immigration New Zealand’s handling of ACRE

In September 2021, MBIE commissioned Michael Heron KC to carry out an Operational Review of Immigration New Zealand’s (INZ) process in relation to our handling of Ahamed Aathill Mohamed Samsudeen. Below is the outcome of that review which found that INZ handled this case in a manner that was consistent with our process and procedure and in a thorough and professional way. The report has been redacted in line with the Official Information Act.

Temporary migrant worker exploitation research programme: quantitative findings

Construction sector community research – Effectiveness of resources and messaging

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) commissioned BERL to undertake research on how Immigration New Zealand (INZ) communicates with migrant workers who are coming into New Zealand on a variety of visas to work in the construction industry. This research provides insights on the effectiveness of settlement resources and messaging supplied to employers and migrants. The research study focused on three migrant worker nationalities – Chinese, Malaysian, and Filipino.
