Celebrating New Zealand’s space and emerging aviation success

Published: 08 July 2024

The government is calling for applications for the inaugural Prime Minister’s Space Prizes.

The Prizes celebrate the innovative, talented people working in space and emerging aviation in New Zealand.

An award for professional excellence will recognise people working in either private companies or research institutes, who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry. Their work could be in the fields of space or emerging aviation.

As well as celebrating people who are making an impact now, the Prime Minister’s Space Prizes will help to inspire the next generation.

A prize for student endeavour is aimed at students in Years 12-13 and the winner will receive $50,000 towards their tertiary education. In this first year of the Prizes, the winner will also get to visit Rocket Lab’s facilities both in New Zealand and the United States.
