Request For Information opened for grocery sector competitors and investors
Published: 31 March 2025
The Government has released a Request For Information (RFI) to hear from investors and prospective grocery market competitors about possible barriers to entry and investing and growing at scale in the market.

This is another step in the Government’s mission to increase competition in this important market and deliver better grocery prices for New Zealanders.
The information provided through the RFI process will give the Government a better understanding of what regulatory changes could be made or what other support could be provided that would help a challenger get established. This will be used to inform the Government’s considerations into possible next steps for improving competition in the sector.
Details of the RFI are available on the Government Electronic Tenders Service website.
