Seeking organisations to coordinate the delivery of an Applied Doctorates training scheme

Published: 13 June 2024

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking registrations of interest from organisations with the capability, capacity and interest to coordinate the delivery of an Applied Doctorates training scheme.

The scheme will build connections between academic research and industry, improve the commercial impact of research, and the workforce readiness of doctoral graduates to address skills gaps in the wider economy. This will improve industry engagement with academia and prepare more doctoral researchers for careers outside of academia.

Organisations that are interested in coordinating applied training for cohorts of doctoral researchers are encouraged to register their interest via the GETS website.

Interested organisations will be evaluated and selected to work with MBIE on more details for how the scheme will work before final selection of hosts.

We anticipate the announcement of hosts later this year, and to see the first cohort taking part in the scheme from early 2025.
