Our vision for the next 12 months
The Regional Skills Leadership Group (RSLG) is committed to realising the aspirations and actions set out in the Regional Workforce Plan (RWP) and achieving its associated outcomes. Chapter 5 of this report outlines our progress thus far.

The RWP’s 5 aspirations are:
- Seasonality
- Technology
- Education
- Climate Change
- Resilience.
These form the pillars of our strategy and are based on the foundation of Mā te Māori, mō te Māori. We aim to promote equity in the workforce and achieve desired labour market outcomes for the region. These will be expanded upon in Chapter 2.
To refine our strategy the Tertiary Education Commission has requested that each of the RSLGs provide an investment case for potential funding, based on strategic workforce needs, emerging trends or opportunities impacting the workforce, and perennial mismatches in labour supply and demand. We will also be guided by funding advice provided by Workforce Development Councils (Chapter 4).
In Chapter 3, we will zoom in on new areas of interest, including the Māori economy and enterprise, school age rangatahi, and Immigration.
