We are reviewing the health, performance and use of New Zealand’s conformance infrastructure.

Summary

Conformity assessments check that goods, services, personnel and systems meet standards or regulatory requirements. The conformance infrastructure includes the regulations, institutions and arrangements for carrying out conformity assessments.

Following initial consultation, information gathering and analysis, the review has found that the overall infrastructure is sound, fit for purpose and in keeping with the size of our economy but there are areas for improvement.

This Issues and Opportunities Paper presents the findings of the review. It highlights the areas for improvement and asks a series of questions. Your responses will help the Government to identify potential changes that could be made to improve these important services.

Read more background information about the review and additional documents on the 2018 Conformance Policy and Infrastructure Review page.
