The Corporate and Digital Shared Services group leads, connects and strengthens MBIE's core data and insights, digital and technology capabilities. Business Analysis provides practical advice and guidance to both users and developers; we can ensure we are delivering business solutions and tools to take the Ministry forward in its ability to deliver public services. Business Analysis’ purpose is to enable and empower the functions of our core business through effective use of technology: the implementation of services and systems which strengthen the way our Ministry delivers services, and delivers on the outcomes required by Government. We support MBIE business areas as a team of specialist subject matter experts with in-depth domain knowledge, to optimise delivery across the business.

As an established Business Analyst reporting to the Capability Lead Business Analysis, the Senior Business Analyst influences and improves the quality of outcomes, prioritises requirements enabling informed decision making for our stakeholders.

 This is done by:

  • Identifying and defining opportunities for improvement.
  • The use of process improvement tools and techniques to analyse an existing business process.
  • Providing IT solutions perspective.
  • Know how to translate understanding of the business improvement needs into IT solutions.
  • Understanding requirements to inform effective and innovative business solutions.
  • Understanding project processes.

Personal specifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or equivalent field
  • Seen as a subject matter expert for Business Analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience with the software development lifecycle & Agile practices.
  • A flexible and adaptive approach to maximize the value to the customer.
  • Strive to be a trusted advisor to diverse stakeholder base.
  • Clear communication skills as well as great interpersonal skills with clarity in expression.
  • Result oriented with a positive, result driven attitude.
  • Possess a tertiary qualification in a relevant area or relevant experience.
  • Show an ongoing commitment to your professional development.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
