Tēnei tūranga – About the role
The MIQ Security Officer is positioned at designated Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) facilities.
The Security Officer supports various Returnees operational activities, prevents any unauthorised entry or exit to the site, minimises damage and loss to persons, property or information, actively monitors and operates CCTV cameras and related technology in order to report and inform a security response.

Personal specifications

- Security Certificate of Approval (COA) or the ability to obtain one.
- Monitoring Officer Certificate of Approval (CCTV requirement) or the ability to obtain one.
Prerequisites
- As this role is required to work from our facilities, it is a requirement of this role that you will be vaccinated and take any additional boosters in accordance with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 and/or as otherwise required by law and MBIE. You are also required to undergo COVID-19 regular testing and examination in accordance with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Required Testing) Order 2020 and/or as otherwise required by law and MBIE and sharing the results of such tests and examinations with MBIE. - Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
- Must consent to MOJ check and Children’s Act clearance in accordance with The Children’s Act 2014.

Critical areas of success
- Escalates any security related incident or out of ordinary activities in the form of verbal briefings and incident reports to your manager.
- Ensures logs and reports are maintained to specific requirements.
- Carries out specified inspections as per site specific instructions and local area procedures.
- Understands and follows site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Completes regular patrols or static duties, as required.
- Recognises and eliminates hazards and risks.
- Controls access to Facility – entry requirements, induction and preventing unauthorised entry and exit.
- Uses operational systems and resources as required, including but not limited to CCTV, Radio, and enterprise systems.
- Assists in Returnee operational activities, such as support arrivals, departures, testing processes, security escort etc.
- Provides briefings as required.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to MBIE privacy procedures.
Fulfils CCTV technology responsibilities including:
- Operates all equipment, cameras and supporting technology within the CCTV Control Room.
- Maintains the CCTV control room equipment including performing equipment checks.
- Monitors CCTV video for any non-compliant activity, records observations and acts as appropriate to events witnessed.
- Monitors and controls alarm doors to restrict area access.
- Maintains CCTV records/registers including Incident logs, Visitor’s logbook, Repair, and Maintenance logbook and any other records required for the operation of the CCTV Control Room.
- Advises the appropriate person as soon as practicable of any faults or failures with any equipment within CCTV Control Room.
- Luggage handling support as requested.
- Performs any other duties or undertakings mandated in a Health Order.
- Performs any other related duties identified through future work force design work.

- Always coming to work in the correct uniform, company identification and appropriate equipment is always worn.
- Always have a valid Certificate of Approval (or Monitoring Officer Certificate of Approval if required for CCTV responsibilities).
- Ensures you are up skilled or ask for any assistance if training is required.
- Adds value by looking for ways to be more efficient; identifies any problem areas; escalates any problems quickly to your manager; seeks opportunities to improve individual and team performance; covers breaks or leave when required for other team members; arrives to work on time as per roster.
- Completes all induction and site requirements to enable you to perform the full suite of functions for the specific facility.

Success Profile - MIQ Security Officer
Role Purpose
- The Security Officer prevent any unauthorised entry or exit to the site, manage and monitor movement of Returnees, minimise damage and loss to persons, property or information, actively monitor and operate CCTV cameras and related technology to detect incidents, gather information and evidence in order to report and inform a security response.
- Contribution to the safety and security of the MIQ facility to keep Covid-19 out of NZ/Aotearoa.
Qualifications/Certifications
Preferred - potential to develop, on the job.
- Certificate of Approval Security.
- CCTV – Monitoring Officer Certificate of Approval.
- First Aid certificate.
