The funding scheme has a focus on longer term, innovative research with potential for transformative impact.

MBIE received 13 concept proposals for the 2017 Partnerships Scheme, with eleven invited to submit a full proposal. Six full proposals were received and five were approved for funding. Investment decisions were made by the independent statutory Science Board.
