The funding boost will be used to undertake an additional three door-knock campaigns in high deprivation areas across Greater Christchurch. Households will be offered free personalised home and power assessments, along with advice on making homes warmer and more energy efficient, and how to minimise power bills. Households will be provided with free LED lightbulbs. The funding will also be used to hold community presentations to provide energy education to local groups and NGOs. | $67,000 |

EnergyMate, Energy coaching to support households experiencing energy hardship – extension |
ERANZ will extend its EnergyMate project, which focuses on households in Māori and Pasifika communities who are struggling to pay energy bills and keep homes warm. The extension will deliver up to 200 additional energy coaching sessions, which aim to engage households on their energy use and provide advice on reducing energy bills, information on rights and other support available. Households will also receive free energy-saving equipment such as LED lightbulbs. EnergyMate runs in Kaitaia, central and south Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Porirua, Whanganui, Levin, Hutt Valley, Christchurch, Ōamaru and Dunedin. | $60,000 |
Ecobulb Limited | King Country Home Energy Saver Expansion |
Ecobulb’s projects with the King Country Trust and Maru Energy Trust will both be restarted to reach an additional 456 homes in need in the King Country. Households will receive free, personalised energy education to make their homes warmer and more energy efficient, advice to help find the lowest cost electricity retail plan and free LED lightbulbs and low-flow showerheads. | $83,000 |
Habitat for Humanity – Northern Region | Healthy and Energy Efficient Home Intervention programmes including Winter Warmer Pack Delivery – extension |
Funding will be used to provide an additional 100 Winter Warmer Packs to low-income whānau throughout Auckland and Tai Tokerau. Winter Warmer Packs include essential items such as heaters, blankets, hot water bottles and draught stoppers to help keep homes warm, healthy and lower power bills. | $50,000 |
Northpower Limited | Energy Advice/Community Outreach Programme: lifting Northlanders out of energy hardship – extension |
The funding boost will extend Northpower’s existing project that provides free, personalised energy education to households in need. The extended project will focus on households experiencing energy hardship in the Whangārei and Kaipara region. In addition to energy education, households will also receive help to find the lowest cost electricity plan to suit their needs, free LED lightbulbs and low-flow showerheads to save further on power bills. |
