The below labour demand forecast provides a rough estimate of the projects in the pipeline. The estimated budgets and timeframes tell a story of huge employment demand occurring in our region in the next 15 years. The number of jobs generated by these builds has not been finalised. It will require a wide range of skills. It is estimated that 500 workers a day will be needed for the Whangārei Hospital rebuild alone. There will also be subsidiary services required to accommodate, feed and educate these workers and their whānau, unless they are able to be sourced locally.
