Code of conduct guidance for interpreters and translators

This builds on the requirements for all employees and contractors working for/with the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) as set out in the MBIE Code of Conduct 2015.

Ethics of the profession

You must adhere to the major ethical principles concerning accuracy, conflicts of interest, impartiality and neutrality, and confidentiality.

Interpretation

The type of interpretation you choose will depend upon the circumstances. Throughout MBIE, we always use consecutive interpretation.

Disciplinary procedures for interpreters

All complaints are taken seriously and investigated to ensure that fairness and transparency have been carried out.

Branch addresses

While the Interpreter Coordinator is the central contact for interpreters registered with the MBIE, all payment enquiries need to be directed to the branch where the work was carried out.
